Top 100 Restaurants in San Francisco Bay Area
The San Francisco Chronicle list of the Top 100 eateries around the Bay Area. Find restaurants and maps here.

ABC Bakery | Napa
Chef Erika's favorite place for breakfast in Napa. Well known for its artisan breads, pastries and gourmet French-roasted coffee, not to mention its bountiful oatmeal piled high with nuts and seasonal berries. For heartier appetites, try their French toast, buttermilk pancakes, or Huevos Rancheros. And for all you golfers trying to make your morning tee-time, call ahead and order their breakfast sandwich with a glass of fresh squeezed O.J. to go. Not only delicious, but it will keep you going until "the turn."

Angele | Napa
A restaurant in downtown Napa that "represents the European sensibility of food and wine." Traditional French bistro fare on le menu is complemented by a comprehensive wine list. Chef Erika recommends Salade Lyonnaise, Ris de Veau, Poulet Rôti. The interior design will take you back to the Left Bank, or dine outside in the comfortable patio along the Napa River.

Auberge du Soleil | Rutherford
A culinary destination and Inn located in the heart of Napa Valley. In 1988, the Inn joined Relais & Châteaux, the most prestigious collection of small luxury hotels and restaurants in the world.

Barbers Q | Napa
Friends of Chef Erika, Executive Chef
Stephen Barber and Owner Gene Tartaglia opened this American-style eatery featuring authentic Memphis-style barbeque in early 2007. Chef Erika recommends CK Lamb Mini Burgers, Fulton Valley Farms Whole Roasted Vinegar Chicken, Macaroni & Cheese and Benton’s Country Ham, and Cheddar & Scallion Biscuits. You're toes will sure to be tapping from the music selections by Gene. "This one's for the sexy people."

Bistro Jeanty | Yountville
A Yountville tradition owned by Executive Chef Philippe Jeanty, Bistro Jeanty is one of Chef Erika's favorite places to dine during the cold winter months. She recommends Crême de Tomate en Croute, Salade aux Lardons et Oeuf Mollet, Quenelles de Brochet, Crôutons de Foie Blond, Daube de Boeuf, Creamy Potato Gratin, and for dessert Crepe Suzette.

Bouchon | Yountville
A classic French bistro owned and stylishly operated by world-renown Chef Thomas Keller, who also owns/operates the French Laundry and Per Se in New York City. Their Steak and Frites may be the best on the planet. The Croque Madame rivals any one found in Paris, and their oyster bar showcases the ocean's harvest. Eat as much as possible and stay as long you like, as Bouchon is one of the few restaurants in the Valley that's open late.

Bouchon Bakery | Yountville
Originally opened to supply artisan breads and pastries to local eateries, this French-inspired boulangerie is now open to the public, and thank God! You'll think you've truly died and gone to heaven.

Cole's Chop House | Napa
Looking for the classic Angus steak, then you've come to the right place. Start off your dining experience with one of Cole's classic or seasonal cocktails, and be sure to try any one of their seafood cocktails. For dessert, Chef Erika recommends the Bourbon Whiskey Bread Pudding.

French Laundry | Yountville
Acclaimed by many, including "The New York Times" as the best restaurant in the U.S., Chef Thomas Keller's French Laundry is absolute dining perfection. The experience typically lasts around three to four hours, and the memory will last a lifetime. Reservations are taken two months to the day in advance. Call early in the day and be prepared to use your re-dial button.

Juanita Juanita | Sonoma
The only restaurant from Sonoma making our list, and it's certainly worthy. If you've had enough California-fusion cooking, can't stand another bite of foie or truffles, then venture over to this love shack for some mouth-watering regional Mexican cuisine. Their burritos are fantastic and substantial, but their signature dish, Chipotle chicken, is simply to die for. It's a tricky place to find, so check out this Map.

La Toque | Napa
Steeped in Napa Valley tradition and now located inside the beautiful Westin Verasa Napa. The menu is a constantly evolving “flexible” tasting menu that shows off the season’s bounty. The food is excellent and the experience is worthy of a special occasion.

Redd | Yountville
Playfully inspired modern wine country cuisine in a hip setting, Redd is always a fantastic dining experience. Reservations are highly recommended, but for a spur of the moment treat, you can always eat and drink at the bar. You simply must have the tuna tartare with avocado and fried rice, and the glazed pork belly.

Tacos Michoacan | Napa

Mentioned in the "Wall Street Journal" (yes, the "Wall Street Journal"), look for their taco truck on the south end of Soscol Avenue, down by the railroad tracks near Third Street. In the summer of 2008, this enterprising outfit opened a restaurant in a small strip mall on Lincoln Avenue in Napa (nearest cross street is Soscol Avenue). Their tacos al pastor is one of Chef Erika's favorite lunches. Read More about taco trucks in the area, courtesy of "The Bohemian."

TableOne Events
Beginning in 2009, Troy Avitia, a longtime friend of Savvy Wine Food, will be offering the opportunity to attend a TableOne event. His goal is to have four dinners, each celebrating a different season throughout the year. TableOne events will feature a multi-course menu comprised primarily of products from local and regional growers and food producers who follow organic sustainable methods of production. Also included will be local and regional winemakers, artists, and musicians as part of the event. Since his intent is to feature some of the local, organic and sustainable aspects of the local community, Troy's feels that giving back is just as important. Therefore, TableOne Events will donate a portion of the proceeds to Food on Foot. Now that's savvy!

Taylor's Automatic Refresher | St. Helena and San Francisco
Much, much more than just a 1950s-style hamburger joint, this Napa Valley favorite, owned by bothers Joel and Duncan Gott, originated in St. Helena and now boasts two more locations: downtown Napa at the Oxbow Public Market and at the Ferry Building in San Francisco (View Map). Of course, the burgers are "money" but venture off the beaten trail for their fish tacos. Chase it down with a local wine or PBR (that's a cold Pabst Blue Ribbon)

Terra | St. Helena
Celebrating 20 years of classic wine country cuisine with occasional international twists. The food is always terrific and well executed. Terra is a favorite of locals so don’t be surprised if you spot your favorite winemaker enjoying a meal.

Ubuntu | Napa
The most interesting restaurant to open in the Napa Valley has garnered top reviews by the Michelin guide, The San Francisco Chronicle and many other well known publications. The all-vegetable menu is inspiring, and you carnivores won’t miss the meat. Everyone will be amazed at the culinary craftsmanship. Don’t miss the mini carrot cupcakes.
